What is BoostBay?

BoostBay is a marketplace where you can buy and sell vehicle parts. Whether you're an enthusiast or a business owner, BoostBay makes trading vehicle parts secure, simple, and efficient.

Who can use BoostBay?

Anyone over the age of 18 in from New Zealand can join BoostBay. We offer both Individual Accounts (for personal use) and Business Accounts (for registered businesses).

  • Individual Accounts: Designed for personal use, complete with SAFEPAY protection.

  • Business Accounts: Tailored for businesses, with direct payment and full control over transactions (no SAFEPAY protection).

How does BoostBay ensure safe transactions?

For Individual Accounts, BoostBay offers SAFEPAY, a secure system powered by Stripe Connect. SAFEPAY holds funds until buyers confirm they’ve received their items as described, ensuring trust and protection for both buyers and sellers.

What’s the difference between Individual and Business Accounts?

  • Individual Accounts: Secure transactions using SAFEPAY.
  • Business Accounts: Direct transactions managed by the seller, with disputes and refunds handled under consumer protection laws.

How do I create an account?

Click Sign Up on the BoostBay homepage. Complete the registration form with your name, email, and other details. Then, verify your account through Stripe Connect to start buying and selling.

Why do I need to verify my account?

Account verification ensures security for all users and is required to list items for sale or receive payouts. This process includes submitting your identity and bank details through Stripe Connect.

Transactions and Payments

What is SAFEPAY?

SAFEPAY is BoostBay’s secure payment system for Individual Accounts. Funds are held safely via Stripe Connect until the buyer confirms the item has been received as described.

How do payments work?

  • Individual Accounts: Payments are held via SAFEPAY and released once the buyer marks the order as received.
  • Business Accounts: Payments are transferred directly to the seller after the order is placed, without SAFEPAY protection.

Are payment processing fees refundable?

BoostBay’s commission may be refundable under specific conditions, but Stripe’s payment and payout processing fees are always non-refundable.

Refunds and Disputes

When am I eligible for a refund?

Contact the seller directly to attempt resolution first. If unresolved, file a dispute within 14 days of the transaction. Be sure to provide evidence such as photos and communication logs to support your claim.

For transactions between Individual accounts, refunds are available for SAFEPAY-protected transactions under the following conditions:

  • The item was not received.
  • The item is significantly different from the listing description.
  • The item arrived damaged or defective (and this wasn’t disclosed).

Note: For transactions between Business Accounts, the seller will assist with the resolution.

How do I request a refund (Individual Accounts?)

  • File a dispute within 14 days of the transaction being marked as shipped or delivered by the seller.
  • Provide evidence (e.g., photos, communication logs).
  • Sellers have up to 60 days to resolve the issue. If unresolved, escalate the dispute to BoostBay.

Can I get a refund for transactions outside SAFEPAY?

Transactions outside SAFEPAY or off-platform are not eligible for BoostBay’s protections.

Selling on BoostBay

How do I list items for sale?

Once your account is verified, click Post a Listing. Provide accurate details, photos, and pricing for your item.

Why can’t buyers purchase my listings?

Listings are locked until your account is verified. Complete the Stripe Connect verification process to enable sales.

What are the fees for selling?

BoostBay offers a competitive commission on each sale. These fees are shown during the listing process and deducted automatically. Our commission schedule is displayed on the Transaction Policy page.

Note: Stripe’s fees are covered and are non-refundable.

Shipping and Delivery

Who handles shipping? Shipping is arranged directly between buyers and sellers. Sellers must provide accurate shipping options, and buyers should ensure they provide correct delivery details. If an issue arises during shipping, contact the seller immediately to resolve the problem.

What happens if an item is lost or damaged in transit?

Buyers should contact the seller immediately to resolve the issue. For SAFEPAY transactions, disputes can be filed if no resolution is reached.

Account and Platform Support

What should I do if I forget my password?

Click Forgot Password on the login page and follow the instructions to reset it. If you need help, email [email protected].

Can I delete my account?

Yes, email [email protected] to request account deletion. Note that deleting your account will permanently remove all your listings and transaction history.

How do I report inappropriate behavior or content?

Our platform is constantly checked and moderated. If you see any inappropriate content or behavior, feel free to let our support team know. BoostBay takes these reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

Other Questions

What is BoostBay’s policy on market leakage?

Market leakage refers to transactions completed outside the BoostBay platform. These transactions are not eligible for SAFEPAY protection, refunds, or dispute resolution. Always conduct transactions within the platform to ensure full support.
